The New Jade Eyes by ISignRob The New Jade Eyes by ISignRob
UPDATE: I listened to all the critiques and fixed as many things I could notice. Thanks a lot guys! :#1:

Hello people! Back for more, at last! ;)

May I present you the new Jade Eyes, a character I designed for Ubisoft's Assassin' Creed "Carte Blanche" section of their artbook, but didn't get in though.
Anyways, I heard all the critiques people made about the first one and tried to learn from them, and 9 months later, here's the result...which I think I made some improvement, I don't know...what do you think? =]

Anyways, this was completely done in Painter XI native brushes, just a spatter texture at the corner.

Let me know what you guys think of it, comments and crits are always welcome!

Cheers people, and keep your art up! =D

Miguel Couto

phenomenal improvement over the old one! :) the one thing that bothers me though is there seems to minimal connection to the AC universe. the only thing i can see that has any real connection is what looks like a mayan style A logo on her shoulder. normally there would be more obvious connections... say on her belt buckle (or whatever you call it). sure, the idea of the assassins is to blend in, but when looking at their costumes with all the A logos all over, when has that ever been true? :P

Thanks for the comment!! Yes there's minimal connection on this newer version, because it's becoming sort of a character of my own, so I hope she'll have a full story, with her evolution as a person and everything else.

The older version had more connections, like the eagle helmet, the hidden blade, and other things. The newer shows her as an...apprentice (or whatever :P). Anyway, I hope to make a story with her :)

Thanks for the words once again :D

very cool. are you gonna tie her into the AC universe or keep her as a stand alone?

Well, I still have no idea, but definitely it would be cool to tie her into AC. I'm working on it ;)

A massive improvement from the first. The head is still too big, but my main issue are the breasts. The influence of gravity pulls on them; two thirds should be under the nipple. Drawing from life or looking at nude photos will help you make them more plausible.

You did a fantastic job on her hands, her abs, the fabric, tattoos and background, and it's so nice to see some realistic OCs about.

I love this! Please excuse my crappy critiquing, I've never quite mastered the art of it yet. :)

You've really made some amazing changes from the last one. She looks like a woman now, not so much an evil woman. More soft and sweet, rather harsh. The colors are perfect. The coolness from this one is much more appealing than the reds from the last one. She looks much more human, if you will, than the last one. Keep up the good work!

Hi girl! Sorry for the very late reply, but thank you very much for your critique, there's nothing to be excused of, it surely made me think that i'm towards the right way ;)
I liked this character so much that I'm planning to do more works of her, and at each work, I intend to improve my skill...I hope you'll enjoy them as well =D

Cheers and thanks once again for your words!

I think making more works of her is a great idea, but I'm not sure if recapturing the perfectness of the atmosphere can be recreated. Though I don't quite see the digital art process clearly. :) Keep up to good work, as it is getting much better!

Wow, I saw this and it took a lot of convincing to believe that this was a digital piece, it has all the texture and charm of a traditional artwork. You did an excellent job capturing the human form, however I'm concerned that the folds in the skirt are not as accurate as they could have been. I can't place why, but they're almost too uniform, I only mention this because everything else was done with a more elevated skill level. She also seems to be lacking nipples, but maybe that's intentional. Great job, these criticisms were very minor.

Wow I'm completely honored to hear that! Thank you very much!

Yes the folds seem a bit odd...I didn't find any reference for a cotton skirt, so I had to rely on my little knowledge of clothing folds :XD: and her lack of nipples was intentional...she's supposed to have, but I preferred to hide them...I think I'll have to do more necklaces ;)

I'll surely will work on those issues in time! Thank you very much for your feedback, really appreciate it!

Cheers ;)
